Prince George's Community College (PGCC) is a community college located in the unincorporated community of Largo in Prince George's County, Maryland. This college serves Prince George's County in Maryland and the surrounding areas. It was founded in 1958.Prince George's Community College is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In addition, it also has several special accreditations.
The college offers more than 100 fields of study through its academic, workforce development, continuing education, and personal enrichment programs. Prince George's Community College has 68 academic degree programs and 34 professional certificate programs. Distance learning options are featured by many of the programs. The college awards Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Arts in Teaching degrees.
The main campus is located in Largo, Maryland, which was opened in 1967. The college also shares an extension center with Howard Community College in Laurel. Prince George's Community College also operates several extension centers at University Town Center in Hyattsville, and Andrews Air Force Base as well as Skilled Trades Center in Camp Springs.
Prince George's Community College serves approximately 40,000 students. The student body is very diverse, as it is 76% African American, 64% female, and has international students from 100 nations around the world.
The college has 43 student clubs and organizations, which represent a wide variety of interest.
